Warning about Marine ply
Film Face Ply
with Marine Glue
We at Multirack have a range of Film Face plywood (similar to Formply) It is made from Eucalyptus Timber for the core and with Marine glue with a Black Film Face overlay.
Sheet Size 2440 x 1220mm
Thicknesses 12, 17, 25mm
Film Face Plywood is produced to deliver a maintenance free surface, making it a versatile, ready to use surface that is easy to clean. This ply material is composed of a hardwood core, Marine glue and a black overlay finish. This product is also ideal for cement applications where F14 structural strength is not required.
Many people will call this Formply, but it can only be called Formply when it has been stress graded, and will be stamped with a PAA or EWPAA stamp.
NOTE :- Formply is NOT Marine ply.
Formply is normally made with pine timber and interior or water resistant glue. Our ply is made using Eucalyptus timber and marine glue.
For the technical people :-
Formply, due to its short life as a structural member as concrete formwork, may be manufactured to either the structural plywood Standard AS/NZS2269 with Type A bond glue and B grade or better faces on two sides, or bonded with Type B water resistant glue to Australian Standard AS/NZS2271 or with interior Type C glue bond to AS/NZS2270 and B grade or better faces both sides.
This Ply has a very high quality face and is good for clear finish and for painting also and has a Highly Moisture Resistant Glue (HMR) It can be use for many applications around the home and workshop.
Although this ply is not 100%, the faults are only very small or in some cases difficult to even find. Come and have a look. It is available in 12mm and 15mm thicknesses, Sheet size is 2440 x 1220mm
Great Ply for making furniture, lining walls or where you want a clear finish to show the beautiful grain
12mm $55, 15mm $66
Australian Standard AS2271 Certified with Marine Glue
We have in stock high quality Marine bonded plywood rated by the PAA (Plywood Association of Australia) for Exterior use. We call it “MAL Ply” Many people buy it for boat and trailer floors, and it has a very good finish making it also good for making furniture. (other stores in Mackay sell ply called “Marine AA” and “Marine Ply” which is a lower grade type of ply in my opinion, and it does not meet AS2271)
Size 2440 x 1220mm
Thicknesses are 3.6mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 25mm and the
Trade price for this ply, 3.6mm $33, 6mm $49, 9mm $71, 12mm $94, 15mm $116, 18mm $135, 25mm $192
Because it is made to the PAA standards you can be confident of it’s quality.
For the technical people — This Ply meets the PAA standard and the Australian Standard AS2271 for Exterior Ply, with ‘A’ bond Marine Glue. It is manufactured from a semi hardwood timber and is treated to H2 level at veneer level ,(not envelope treatment) this means you can cut and drill it without having to retreat the cuts or holes.

Tongue and Groove (T&G) Flooring ply is very durable and is pre-sanded for the best finish. It has a machined groove, as well as a tongue to ensure a seamless join when it is laid. T&G can be used in most flooring applications and ranges in thickness from 15mm to 32mm. It is lightweight but still retains superior strength and rigidity. We also have available Hardwood Ply with a H2 glue line treatment againse termites, this glue line treatment is far superior to any envelope treatment as you can cut and drill the ply without the need to retreat the cut edges.
Normal size is 2400 x 1200mm
Standard thicknesses available 15, 17, 19, 21, 25, 32mm

Tasmanian Oak Ply
2400 x 1200 x 12
We have a Tasmanian Oak Ply that is made in Tasmania, Australia, the faces are graded as C/C (average to good C grade) C grade faces include filler and defects as can be seen in picture. This ply has large colour variations. (the lighter colours are the most common, but we took this picture to show the extremes if can come in.) If you are not needing very large face areas of Grade A or B Tasmanian Oak , you can definitely get good areas that can be clear finished with good quality finish. All Tas Oak Ply will show the blood vanes that are a characteristic of the Tasmanian Oak timber family.
The glue is A bond Marine grade, which is a blackish colour, so you will see come colour bleed coming through on the faces.
This ply is priced much less that for a A or B grade face, so is economical to use for many projects that require a quality ply with marine glue.
