Marine Plywood
British Standard BS 1088

Plywood manufactured with Marine “A” Bond glue is not always “Marine Ply”  most ply sold in Australia with marine glue is a lower grade and at a very low price as compared to “Marine Plywood”  Remember , if it is priced at a low price, it is to good to be true, and not “Marine Ply”

Click on the “MARINE PLYWOOD” tab above for more information on Marine ply.

British Standard BS1088  a lower quality Marine Ply  when compared to Australian Standard AS2722 Marine and much cheaper.

## CAUTION  There is no checking of ply to see if it is made to the BS1088 standard, and because of this there is ply for sale in Australia that does not meet the BS1088 standard, but is still stamped that it meets BS1088.  We can access these low grades but DO NOT buy them,  rest  assured if buying from us we will never buy or sell these low grade and cheaper ply that does not meet BS1088.

Marine Plywood
Australian Standard AS2272

Plywood manufactured with Marine “A” Bond glue is not always “Marine Ply”  most ply with marine glue is a lower grade and very lower price.

All Marine AS2272 grade plywood will have a stamp on the back of the sheet as above with AS2272 noted on stamp.

Click on the “MARINE PLYWOOD” tab above for more information on Marine ply.

We also only buy all AS2272 ply from Austral Plywood, the only manufacturer of marine ply that complies with Australian Standards.

Marine ply fool

Warning about Marine ply

I am disappointed that major hardware stores are still falsely labeling plywood as “marine ply” when it is NOT marine ply. To be called marine ply it must meet either British Standard  BS1088  or  Australian Standard AS2722.  You can check if the ply is what they are claiming, have a look on the rear of the sheet, if it is real marine ply it will have the stamps in ink on the rear of the sheet, see the 2 columns to the left of this section.
And they are also charging you a inflated price for this so called Marine Ply.

Film Face Ply
with Marine Glue

We at Multirack have a range of Film Face plywood (similar to Formply)  It is made from Eucalyptus Timber for the core and with Marine glue with a Black Film Face overlay.

Sheet Size 2440 x 1220mm depending on availability or 2400 x 1200mm
Thicknesses  12, 18, 25mm

Film Face Plywood is produced to deliver a maintenance free surface, making it a versatile, ready to use surface that is easy to clean. This ply material is composed of a hardwood core, Marine glue and a black overlay finish.  This product is also ideal for cement applications where F14 structural strength is not required.
Many people will call this Formply, but it can only be called Formply when it has been stress graded, and will be stamped with a PAA  or EWPAA stamp.

NOTE  :-  Formply is NOT Marine ply.
Formply is normally made with pine timber and interior or water resistant glue.  Our ply is made using Eucalyptus timber and marine glue.

For the technical people :-
Formply, due to its short life as a structural member as concrete formwork, may be manufactured to either the structural plywood Standard AS/NZS2269 with Type A bond glue and B grade or better faces on two sides, or bonded with Type B water resistant glue to Australian Standard AS/NZS2271 or with interior Type C glue bond to AS/NZS2270 and B grade or better faces both sides.

Mal Ply 300x300

Exterior Plywood

We have in stock high quality plywood rated by the PAA (Plywood Association of Australia) for Exterior use. Many people buy it for boat and trailer floors, and it has a very good finish making it also good for making furniture. (other stores in Mackay sell ply called “Marine AA”  and “Marine Ply” which is a lower grade type of ply in my opinion, and it does not meet AS2271)

Size 2440 x 1220mm
Thicknesses are 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm check in-store to see what is currently available

Because it is made to the PAA standards you can be confident of it’s quality.
For the technical people — This Ply meets the PAA standard and the Australian Standard AS2271 for Exterior Ply, with ‘A’ bond Marine Glue. It is manufactured from a hardwood eucalyptus timber.

Large Sheet Size

Large Size Plywood

The standard size ply sheets are 2400 x 1200 and  2440 x 1220, but
we can also get oversize or Jumbo sheets with Eucalyptus core and a Gaboon/Okoume face in exterior ply with a WBP glue made to European Standard EN636-2S.  See Picture to right for picture of this ply.
They come in a few size and thickness variations.  (all these size variations are not always available)

2440 x 1530 –  6, 9, 12, 15, 18mm
3050 x 1220 –  3.6, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18mm
3050 x 1530 –  6, 9, 12, 15, 18mm
3050 x 1830 –  12, 18mm

With all these sizes,  they are not a stocked lines, they are only available as special order and will require payment prior to ordering.
These sheets are more expensive, so unless you have a special project , I would suggest you look at the standard sizes.

All are cheaper for large quantity buys due to freight costs, which as special order lines are passed on to the customer.
